Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 11, 2026
In short: Foliomark doesn't require an account, doesn't run analytics or advertising, and doesn't operate a server that sees your bookmarks. Your data is stored on your device and, if you enable it, synced through your own private iCloud account.

Overview

This policy explains what information Foliomark ("the app," "we," "Foliomark") collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. Foliomark is built by an independent developer and does not run its own backend servers — your bookmark data is stored locally on your device and, optionally, in your personal iCloud account.

Information We Collect

Foliomark stores the information you choose to save as bookmarks:

We do not ask for your name, email address, or any account credentials, and there is no sign-up or login flow anywhere in the app.

On-Device Categorization

When you add a bookmark, Foliomark determines its category and writes a short summary using Apple's on-device language model (Apple Intelligence) where available, or a local keyword match when it isn't. This processing happens entirely on your device — no page content, title, or URL is sent to Foliomark or to any third-party service for this purpose.

Fetching Page Details

To pull a page's title and icon, Foliomark uses Apple's LinkPresentation framework to request that page directly, the same way Safari would if you visited the link yourself. This means the website you're bookmarking may see a request from your device, but Foliomark itself does not log, analyze, or relay that request anywhere.

In-App Browser

Opening a saved bookmark loads the page directly in an in-app browser built on WebKit. Foliomark does not proxy, record, or inspect your browsing beyond what's needed to display the page and, if you choose, to trigger Focus Read — a purely on-device feature that reformats the page you're already viewing into a cleaner reading layout.

iCloud Sync

If you're signed in to iCloud, Foliomark can back up and sync your bookmarks across your devices using Apple's CloudKit, stored in your own private iCloud database. This data is subject to Apple's own privacy practices, and Foliomark's developer has no access to it. You can see your current sync status at any time in Settings, and you can disable iCloud for Foliomark from your device's system Settings.

Clipboard Access

Foliomark can fill in a URL from your clipboard, but only when you explicitly tap the paste button in the Add Bookmark screen. The clipboard is never read automatically or in the background.

What We Don't Do

Third-Party Links

Settings includes an optional link to Buy Me a Coffee, an external site for supporting development. If you choose to open it, you leave Foliomark and that site's own privacy policy applies. The websites you bookmark and browse are likewise outside Foliomark's control, and each has its own privacy practices.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your bookmarks remain on your device — and in your iCloud account, if sync is on — until you remove them. You can delete individual bookmarks with a swipe, or clear your entire library at once from Settings → Data → Clear All Bookmarks. Deleting the app removes its local data; if iCloud sync was enabled, you may also need to remove Foliomark's data from your iCloud account settings to delete the synced copy.

Children's Privacy

Foliomark is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children. Since the app requires no account and stores data only on-device or in the user's own iCloud, no personal information is knowingly collected from anyone, including children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the revision. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
